Vatican calls for end to Operation Streamline

Via the Arizona Politics blog, an interesting note about the proceedings of the United Nation Human Rights Council’s “Draft report of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review.”  Several nations brought points related to Arizona’s tough new immigration law, and the Vatican called for Operation Streamline to be repealed:

The Holy See noted that “Operation Streamline” against irregular migrants should be suspended and asked for information about the Government’s decision to review its position on the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

We’ll post updates on whether the Catholic Church in the United States follows this pronouncement with similar statements against Streamline.
