You may have heard about the T. Don Hutto detention facility as a family detention center located close to Austin. Fortunately, the families were released in late 2009, but this for-profit private prison is now filled with immigrant women, most of whom are seeking asylum. As community members, we feel the Hutto Visitation Program is a way to show friendship and solidarity with the women detained there, resist the isolation of detention, monitor human rights conditions at Hutto, and refuse a detention system that labels humans as "illegal."
Help support the work of the visitation program & join us for a night of music, food, dancing, and convivencia!
