Please join us for a Hutto Visitation Program Orientation on August 5th from 2pm to 6pm, in our back training room at 2301 E. Cesar Chavez St. (the building is on the south side of our parking lot). Our program's purpose is to offer support for the women at Hutto, monitor human rights abuses and put an end to the silence of detention. Come talk to the women directly impacted by issues like gender-based violence, international affairs and immigration policies to hear their stories and perspectives. You will gain the knowledge and tools needed to support women who are detained in the T. Don Hutto Detention facility in Taylor, TX.
Volunteers must be conversationally proficient in a language other than English and/or attend the training with someone who is bilingual that is willing to visit in partnership and interpret for you. They should also RSVP. Volunteers must commit to visiting the detention center at least once a month. It is open 8am until 8pm, seven days a week. Please pass along the date to anyone who may be interested in breaking the isolation of detention. Let us know you're coming, there are space limitations. You must RSVP via the link above, not on Facebook. If it is full, be on the lookout for our next month's training. RSVP here.
