We are seeking long-term volunteers for La Linea de Defensa Comunitaria immigration crisis hotline. La Linea is a fully bilingual Spanish/English deportation crisis hotline meant to provide the necessary resources and support to community members in the midst of a deportation crisis. We can help people find loved ones in detention centers/county jails, connect to pro bono and trusted private attorneys, find basic needs financial, food, etc. support, engage with a supportive community of others impacted, and access mental health care. Intensive training will be provided.
As a volunteers you can either committ to taking a 4-hour shift, one day a week, in which you man incoming calls or you be in a back up/ICE raid response mode only, where you committ to cover one shift per month. You can do this from your own phone/computer at home, with a coordinated system already established for providing immediate support and tracking follow up still needed. Please keep in mind; you must attend both trainings on Wed Feb 28 6-8pm and Sat March 3, 2-4pm, to participate and be fully bilingual. Please RSVP here to attend.
