Join us at El Sol y La Luna for an evening of live music benefiting the Hutto Visitation Program! Kunitan will open the show and Body Rock's DJ Chorizo Funk and Riders Against the Storm will close the evening. We'll have free appetizers, a silent auction, and you'll get a chance to hear from members of the Hutto Visitation Program.
Get your tickets for $8 in advance at MonkeyWrench Books (110 E. North Loop) and the Grassroots Leadership Austin office (607 W. 14th St.)! You can also purchase your tickets online by visiting the Grassroots Leadership website and selecting the appropriate option from the drop-down menu here. Tickets will be available for $10 at the door.
You may have heard about the T. Don Hutto detention facility as a family detention center located close to Austin. Fortunately, the families were released in late 2009, but this for-profit private prison is now filled with immigrant women, most of whom are seeking asylum. As community members, we feel the Hutto Visitation Program is a way to show friendship and solidarity with the women detained there, resist the isolation of detention, monitor human rights conditions at Hutto, and refuse a detention system that labels humans as "illegal."
Help support the work of the visitation program & join us for a night of music, food, dancing, and convivencia!
