Please join Grassroots Leadership, Texans United for Families, and the UT Social Justice Institute for an upcoming orientation for our visitation program to the T. Don Hutto detention facility in Taylor, which currently detains over 500 immigrant women. As community members, we feel the visitation program is a way to show friendship and solidarity with the women detained there, resist the isolation of detention, monitor issues of human rights at Hutto, and refuse a detention system that labels human beings as "illegal."
Most of the women at Hutto are from Central/Latin America therefore we have a high need for Spanish speakers. However, there are also women from Asia and Africa who would like to receive a visit. To learn more and to become a visitor, attend our next orientation/training!
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
