La Linea Defensa Deportation Crisis Hotline Training April 19th and April 22nd

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 - 6:00pm to Saturday, April 22, 2017 - 4:00pm
2301 E. Cesar Chavez St.

La Linea de Defensa Comunitaria is a volunteer-run crisis hotline meant to provide resources and support to community members in the midst of a deportation crisis and/or other immigrants scared and seeking help. We help people find loved ones in detention centers/county jails, connect to attorneys, find basic needs financial, food, mental health etc. support to stabilize during crisis, and connect with Know Your Rights, legal clinics, and deportation defense trainings. We can also help callers connect with a supportive community of others impacted to organize for change. La Linea Defense had been operating for 2 years at a very low profile, just 4hrs a day, 4-8pm, and through word of mouth. We are now expanding to 9am-9pm 7 days a week.

We are seeking long-term volunteers for La Linea Defensa who are able to either commit to a weekly shift and/or would want to help out during ICE raids. Volunteers take a 4-hour shift, one day a week, in which they man incoming calls and/or they are on call for ICE raids only. They can do this from their own phone/computer at home; with a coordinated system already established for providing immediate support and tracking follow-up still needed.

Currently, La Linea Defensa has a few gaps in coverage during the week and has a great need for weekend coverage. We hope you can join us! Please note you must attend both training days to participate - Wed 19th 6-8pm and Sat 22nd 2-4pm. RSVP here:
