Help families stay together
La Linea de Defensa Comunitaria is an immigration crisis line which provides resources and support to community members in the midst of a deportation crisis and/or others scared and seeking help. We help people find loved ones in detention centers/jails, connect to pro bono and trusted private attorneys, find basic needs financial, food, etc. support, connect with Know Your Rights and defense trainings, legal clinics, and access mental health care. We also facilitate engagement with a powerful, supportive community of others impacted for social support and building power through organizing. Before the ICE raids last February in Austin, La Linea Defense was operating a few hours a day, through word of mouth. We have now expanding to 9am-9pm 7 days a week and are sharing the information wide in the community: Please pass it on! 512-270-1515.

Volunteers can either take a 4-hour shift, one day a week, in which they man incoming calls and/or they can be on call for ICE raids or back up only. Volunteers do this from their own phone/computer at home; with a coordinated system already established for providing immediate support and tracking follow-up needed. Currently, La Linea Defensa has a few gaps in coverage. Your help is needed!

This 2 day training will take place Wednesday evening July 12th 6-8pm and Saturday morning July 15th 11-1pm. The training will cover how to handle calls on the line, including the importance of validation, confidentiality, and trauma sensitivey. We'll also provide training on imparting know your rights information to callers, finding individuals detained, linking families to resources, and connecting to movement bulding.

To attend the training RSVP here. Please note that you must be able to attend both days of the training to participate. Feel free to email Sofia Casini at if you have questions prior to registering. Mil gracias!
